Intro

The Bogus Basin Nordic Team is a non-profit Nordic ski team for athletes 6–19 in the Treasure Valley. Our program provides opportunities for skiers of all abilities with the intention of creating lifetime athletes.

The pursuit of Nordic skiing teaches us many valuable life lessons, including focus, discipline, self-confidence, teamwork, responsibility, sportsmanship, and the value of healthy living. All of these attributes are qualities that will continue long after the ski team experience is done.

BBNT believes that there is a social, physical, emotional, educational, and psychological benefit involved in all of our programs.

Unlike many other sports, BBNT is ONE team - from the second graders who are putting on skis for the first time to the seniors in high school who have raced nationally - we all work together. Being a member of this team provides unparalleled opportunities for these kids to practice leadership and become mentors.

BBNT Programs

BBNT has programs for all skill levels.

We support athletes who have never been on snow to those who dream of one day competing internationally.

Over the past three decades, BBNT has fostered the growth of 250+ lifetime skiers

In that time, BBNT has qualified 3 athletes to the international Under 18 "Scandinavian Cup Race," qualified over 25 athletes for the Junior National Championships, and had one alumna compete in two Olympic games (2010/2014)

Meanwhile, we keep it all in perspective. Our primary focus is keeping practice fun and engaging. A coaching colleague put it perfectly - "Endurance sports are just too easy to hate... especially for kids." To teach a love for endurance sports we utilize lots of different drills, exercises, and games that keep practices fast-paced and exciting.

Refuski

Refuski

Megan Jones started the Refuski program in 2011 with 4 refugee athletes that she drove to and from practice, outfitted with ski clothing, and handled all of the logistics. Megan is still highly involved, but since the 2015-16 ski season, BBNT has fully taken on transporting these kids to and from practice, finding proper clothing, and coordinating with Bogus Basin to provide the kids with trail passes and equipment.

If you are interested in learning more about Refuski - or if you are interested in supporting these young athletes, please email Program Director Wilson Dippo - bbntcoach@gmail.com
