Youth Rec

For all elementary-aged skiers (3rd-6th grade) who wish to learn how to cross country ski, improve their skills, or simply stay active through the winter.  The focus is on having fun on skis while learning and mastering the fundamental skills of cross country skiing.

Format: Each session begins with beginner skiers and advanced skiers working together. As the workout progresses we divide into groups based on skill level and age.  Group size is never larger than 1 coach for every 10 athletes and frequently we will have 1 coach for every 5 athletes.  Instruction is based on a learn-by-doing philosophy. We utilize lots of games, drills, and challenges to teach children fundamental skills and the basic ski techniques.

Special Information: Youth Rec is offered 2 days/week with 4-5 “bonus” Saturday practices thrown in. There is the expectation that not every athlete will be able to make every practice. We hope the athletes and families will see this as an opportunity rather than an obligation – more chances to ski with the team! Come as often as you can but the pricing for the full Youth Rec Program is based on an average of 2 days/week over the season.

November 5 - March 15 with no practice December 20-24 (16 Weeks or 45 Sessions)

Tuesday and Thursday: Leave town 4:15pm and return at 7:15pm. Or meet at the Nordic Lodge at 5:00pm (session ends at ~6:30pm).

Come as often as you can but we don’t expect anyone to be able to make all the sessions all year long.

Dryland: Before the snow falls we run our practices in-town at Camel’s Back Park from 4:15-5:45pm. Additionally, we take a short break for Thanksgiving. (November 18- December 5)
