About BBNT

The Bogus Basin Nordic Team is a non-profit Nordic ski team for athletes of all ages and abilities in the Treasure Valley. BBNT develops and supports the diverse nordic skiing community in the Treasure Valley, creating lifetime athletes through programming for all ages and abilities.

The pursuit of Nordic skiing teaches us many valuable life lessons, including focus, discipline, self-confidence, teamwork, responsibility, sportsmanship, and the value of healthy living. All of these attributes are qualities that will continue long after the ski team experience is done. BBNT believes that there is a social, physical, emotional, educational, and psychological benefit involved in all of our programs.

Unlike many other sports, BBNT is ONE team - from third graders who are putting on skis for the first time to the seniors in high school who have raced nationally - we all work together. Being a member of this team provides unparalleled opportunities for these kids to practice leadership and become mentors.

BBNT is built on five core values:

  • We believe in healthy lifestyles and being lifetime athletes

  • We always put the team over the individual

  • We provide opportunities for growth (physical, mental, emotional, social)

  • We inspire others through positive actions

  • We promote a culture of self-discipline through the pursuit of excellence

BBNT has a history of excellence

BBNT’s history dates back to 1989 when it was started with only a handful of athletes. Throughout the 25+ years, the program, coaching staff, parent volunteers and Nordic area have continually grown and contributed to create the program it is today.

  •
1995 - Sappers Return & Sidewinder trails built

  •
2000/2001 - Bogus Basin Nordic Lodge completed

  • 2002 - Redtail, Meadow, & Two Deer trails built

BBNT has programs for all skill levels.

We support athletes who have never been on snow to those who dream of one day competing internationally.

Over the past three decades, BBNT has fostered the growth of 300+ lifetime skiers. In that time, BBNT has qualified 3 athletes to the international Under 18 "Scandinavian Cup Race," qualified over 25 athletes for the Junior National Championships, and had one alumna compete in two Olympic games (2010/2014).

Meanwhile, we keep it all in perspective. Our primary focus is keeping practice fun and engaging. A coaching colleague put it perfectly - "Endurance sports are just too easy to hate... especially for kids." To teach a love for endurance sports we utilize lots of different drills, exercises, and games that keep practices fast-paced and exciting.

BBNT is committed to diversifying Nordic skiing.
